from the Ukraine to Australia in 4 days!

It was a dark and stormy afternoon when the post van pulled up outside.
I wasn't expecting her to arrive for at least another 3 days but when I saw the box I just knew it was her... my Peewit.

Sadly though my box opening photo's were cut short due to a sad discovery... my doll had a broken foot. Two of her toes were snapped off!
I was so upset and disheartened.

I didn't find her missing toes until I took her out of the box, they were under her head! My guess is customs broke her foot and then chucked the toes back into the box. She was also bent in her box, carelessly placed. It was no fault of the sisters who had packaged her well and sent me a photo before she left.

Due to my disappointment I put her away until I calmed down. I later took her out and was able to "bond" with her.

Congratulations! she is utterly beautiful - and I actually really like this wig on her even if it is temporary! I too had a broken doll arrive a few months ago- (not a Popovy but a porcelain art doll) So I empathise with how you felt, Customs officers are beasts with dolls!!!!! But at least you can be secure in the knowledge that this is only temporary and she will be all fixed up soon!

Oh Jess, I'm so sorry she arrived with a broken foot...customs officers...grrrr!
But, on a happier note, she is a stunning girl, such a beautiful face. And I agree with bibarina, this wig looks fabulous on her!

Oh Jess she is magnificant! Poor Izabella being treated so... I understand customs have a seriously important job to do but as a hopeful future Popovy collector hearing stories of poor handeling and re-packaging through customs fills me with a sense of dread. At least you didn't have to wait long! Congrats! Soniax

Yes, unfortunately we can't do anything about customs.
By the way she traveled from Ukraine, not Russia We live in Ukraine at the moment.

Oh no!!! That's terrible about the broken toes--I would feel exactly the same way. I hope you can get a replacement foot for her soon. She is absolutely gorgeous! I love her face.

Sorry to hear that customs broke your doll's foot. I'm shocked at how many people have had this happen.

She is beautiful. The blond wig looks very good on her. It must be terribly disappointing to find your poor girl with broken toes. Perhaps, for the time being, until her foot is properly restored, you could us a 5-second glue or something similar. Or, create a "cast" for her and pretend she has been in a skiing accident... That would make some interesting photo stories.

Oh no, how awful! Can you complain and get compensation? My Bony is stuck in UK customs right now, they'd better treat her with respect. She shouldn't be in there as she was marked as a gift and her value below the limit, but they seem to be checking anything from Russia at the moment.

merrijane the customs people make me so mad! I feel sorry for the Sisters having their hard work damaged. This wig looks nice but just not what I had in mind for her (I love the black).
pinkells73 it is a worry, the worst thing is that there isn't anything we can do about it It is the risk we take and I think it is worth it to own such a wonderful doll.

Jill it was disappointing but I will try to glue the toes on and then see if I can work out how to replace the foot at a later time
lilpuss there is no point complaining I feel it wouldn't get us anywhere... she was also marked down. The sisters are kindly sending a replacement foot to me. I really hope you will get your girl soon and she will be in perfect condition!

Oh man.... so sorry to hear of your excitement tainted by the brutal handling of customs! I know this feeling all too well, I had an OOAk Porcelain BJD once arrive with her bust shattered by customs, either by their uncaring and thoughtless handling or deliberately thinking she was a drug mule.

Swill you be able to attach the replacement foot fairly easily??
